The police know about this, and they are going to do something about it.
Tighter rules and regulations
The state police chiefs (CPOs) have been ordered by the Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador to tighten the screening process at state borders.IGP Abdul Hamid told New Straits Times that he had received complaints that some police officers had not been giving their 110 per cent while manning roadblocks.
“Sometimes there is not a single officer manning the roadblocks, where there might as well not be a roadblock.
“There were even incidents of officers waving traffic by while sitting on a chair at these blocks. These duties cannot be trivialised by the officers," he was quoted as saying.
As such, IGP Abdul Hamid had instructed the state police chiefs to tighten the roadblocks in their states, and ensure errant Malaysians who attempt to cross state borders without permission be punished.
“So I have told all the CPOs to increase and tighten up all the roadblocks in their states, and how checks must be done more stringently and persistently,” he was quoted as saying.
And if they don't, action will be taken against the CPOs, IGP Abdul Hamid warned.
"I will take action against the CPOs in states where roadblocks are being run ineffectively or not controlled properly,” he was further quoted as saying, adding that he had ordered CPOs to include senior officers in manning the roadblocks to ensure an equal spread of the duties.
