After almost three months, the Movement Control Order (MCO) as we know it is slowly being lifted.

On 10 June, the government will be replacing the Conditional MCO (CMCO) with the Recovery MCO (RMCO), which offers more flexibility for Malaysians to move around:


One of the things that's being lifted is police roadblocks.

No roadblocks but we still have SOPs

According to a report by Bernama, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) said that they will be removing police roadblocks once the RMCO kicks in tomorrow.

Inspector-general of police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador told the news agency that there's no need for roadblocks to be mounted.

“At the moment, it is clear that under the RMCO, there is no need for roadblocks to be mounted except at Ops Benteng locations,” he was quoted as saying.

With the RMCO, IGP Abdul Hamid said PDRM will formulate new tasks in accordance with the directives from the government and National Security Council (NSC), and the tasks will reportedly be announced on a later date.


However, that doesn't mean that you can go wherever you like though.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Azisman Alias told the news agency that the police will still continue to issue compounds against those who defy the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the government.

On Sunday (7 June), Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin announced that under the RMCO, interstate travels are now allowed.
