Pink Power: Bas Mini Set To Make A Comeback On KL Streets
If you grew up in the 80s or the 90s, you would remember that the bright pink mini busses were a part and parcel of the city and favoured by many as a mode of transportation.
However, the mini bus disappeared from the roads more than twenty years ago, specifically in 1998, when the authorities merged the public transportation services in the federal capital.
Now, the old timers can relive their memories because the mini bus is making a comeback in the federal capital next month.
How we look like riding the bus. According to a report by Bernama, Rapid KL Sdn Bhd will be running a trial mini bus service from the Bukit Indah hub to Ampang Point, via Jalan Rasmi, from 1 September to 29 November.
Quoting Rapid Bus chief executive officer Muhammad Yazurin Sallij, the news agency reported that the mini busses, with a capacity of 31 passengers per bus, would run on a frequency of 15 minutes during peak hours and 25 minutes during non-peak hours.
He said the service will begin from 5.30am all the way to 11.40pm.
The pink engine that could. He said the trial is to test the suitability of using mini busses in neighbourhoods with narrow roads, and to give a better insight into the commuters’ journey experience from the feedback received.
Muhammad Yazurin said if the feedback is positive, there’s a possibility to retain it in the tested route and extend it to other routes as well.
