Since we've been stuck at home for so long, how many of you have renovated your living space?

Our new Prime Minister has been doing that too.

For the country's image

PM Ismail Sabri has revealed that the government has spent RM30 million to renovate the Prime Minister’s official residence at the Seri Perdana Complex in Putrajaya, The Star reported.

In a written parliamentary reply, Ismail Sabri said the renovations are necessary to ensure safety as well as to preserve the country’s image during visits by foreign dignitaries.

According to Ismail Sabri, the renovation includes mechanical wiring, air conditioning systems, electrical improvements and structural renovation at the official residence block.

A part of the money was also spent on replacing old and dilapidated furniture to "fit the status of the official residence of the Malaysian Prime Minister".

Oooooooooooo, OK!

Looks mighty fine to us.
Ismail Sabri furter said that the renovation is going on as scheduled, and the progress is at 60 per cent as of 30 August.

The explanation by the PM came after Pokok Sena MP Datuk Mahfuz Omar questioned the need for the government to spend that amount of money at a time when Malaysians are struggling to make ends meet.

Netizens not impressed

Over on Twitter, Malaysian netizens weren't convinced that the government should be spending so much for renovations during the pandemic.

Many opined that it was a waste of resources, and the money should be used to help the poor instead:

Malaysia Government need to stop wasting money on unnecessary shit. https://t.co/IQz8QPe21N

Semasa PH ambil alih, takda usik apapun untuk renovation. Melainkan Rosmah tuntut barang dia termasuk chandelier yg tergantung di bilik menunggu. Kain alas pun dia nak kaut. Malah elok je Seri Perdana host Jokowi, Emir Qatar, Imran Khan & Hari Raya. Apa takda isu safety masa tu? https://t.co/xhPvBoO9Xb

Sedangkan, Kompleks Seri Perdana last pergi awal 2020, tiada kerosakan major, atau masalah yang perlu untuk renovation. Sebab perabot semua masih cantik sebab last tukar zaman Najib PM.

Perincian sidang media sebentar tadi bersama Ahli Parlimen Segambut @hannahyeoh

Mana mungkin sejumlah wang begini boleh disalurkan hanya untuk "renovation" rumah di Seri Perdana dikala rakyat dalam keadaan yang susah dan tertekan. https://t.co/SOwSYUuNzE

Typical kampong mentality when it comes to ways to impress people, becauese thats probably how they can me impressed. Foreigners already know our countries ranking in all those indexes that mattered, they not impressed by Malaysia and they are laughing behind our backs.

We don't know about you, but we do kinda agree that the amount of money could be better used elsewhere.
