Unfortunately, there are those who still take these rules lightly.
No mercy
The Sun reported that 34 people were detained at a pub in Kuala Lumpur for flouting the RMCO on Saturday (22 August).Among those who were held was a daughter of a politician.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim told the daily that the authorities raided a pub in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) at around 1.20am and found that it has been operating without a valid license.
The pub's 37-year-old manager and three foreign staff were detained, and they will be remanded for 14 days for investigations under the Immigration Act.
The patrons of the pub -- 20 men and nine women aged between 21 and 48, Mazlan said -- were also held for being present at the pub past its operating hours and for violating the standard operating procedures of the RMCO.
They were reportedly slapped with a RM1,000 fine each.
Pubs, clubs not allowed to operate during RMCO
Senior Defense Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said, in July, that night clubs and entertainment outlets are still barred from operating during the RMCO as it is still in the list of prohibited activities.Those who defy the rule risk having their business licenses revoked, Ismail said.
Let this be a lesson to all of you out there who still think that the authorities are kidding when it comes to flouting the RMCO.
