Public Transport During the ASEAN Summit: Extended Hours, Route Changes, & What to Expect
In conjunction with the upcoming 46th ASEAN Summit, Rapid KL has announced extended operating hours to accommodate the expected increase in commuters. This comes after earlier reports on road disruptions and school closures related to the summit.
In a statement, Prasarana Malaysia Berhad said that operations during weekday peak hours from May 23 to 28 will be extended by one hour in both the morning and evening to better serve the public.
The new weekday peak hours will now run from 6:30 am to 10 am (previously 7 am to 9:30 am) in the morning, and from 4:30 pm to 8 pm (previously 5 pm to 7:30 pm) in the evening.

Additionally, trains will arrive more frequently over the weekend on May 24 and 25:
- Ampang / Sri Petaling Line: every 4 minutes (previously every 5 minutes)
- Kelana Jaya Line: every 5 minutes (previously every 7 minutes)
- Monorail, Kajang, and Putrajaya Lines: every 8 minutes (previously every 10 minutes)
Rapid KL also stated that it will enhance monitoring and operational control to ensure the smooth running of public transportation throughout the ASEAN Summit period.
In the same statement, Rapid KL announced the deployment of 400 additional staff at selected rail stations to assist with passenger flow and support ASEAN delegations using public transport services.

Meanwhile, bus and Rapid KL On-Demand services are expected to experience scheduled delays due to road closures.
Affected routes include:
- Route 402 (LRT Titiwangsa – LRT Maluri)
- Route 302 (LRT Titiwangsa – KLCC)
- Route 300 (Hub Pandan Indah – Lebuh Ampang)
- Route 303 (Taman Mulia Jaya – Lebuh Ampang)
- Rapid KL On-Demand (Titiwangsa Zone – Chow Kit)

For those planning to visit KLCC and surrounding areas, Rapid KL encourages commuters to use rail services to avoid traffic congestion.
Rail stations serving the city centre include:
- KLCC Station (Kelana Jaya Line)
- KLCC Persiaran Station (Putrajaya Line)
- Raja Chulan Station (KL Monorail)
- Conlay Station (Putrajaya Line)
- Bukit Bintang Station (Kajang Line and KL Monorail)
The public is advised to plan their journeys accordingly and consider alternative transportation options to avoid inconvenience during the ASEAN Summit.
