From Road Closures to School Disruptions: Everything You Need to Know About the Upcoming ASEAN Summit 2025
This May 26 to 27, 2025, the ASEAN Summit will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
According to NST, around 20,000 attendees—including heads of state, delegates, and officials from member countries, as well as dialogue partners such as China and the Gulf nations—are expected to gather to discuss major economic and regional issues.
With the ASEAN Summit 2025 just around the corner, many are wondering how it might impact daily life in and around Kuala Lumpur. From traffic diversions to school closures, here’s everything you need to know about the event—and how it could affect you.
Which countries are members of ASEAN?

Given the scale of the event, it's no surprise that several roads will be closed or diverted.

According to Malay Mail, Bukit Aman’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri announced that 789 officers will be deployed for duties such as escorting VIP motorcades and managing expected traffic congestion.
A dry run is scheduled for May 21 and 22, 2025.
