Ranting Against the Rising Prices of Chicken & Eggs, This Man Turned an Alleycats’ Song Into a Protest Anthem
At the moment, every Malaysian is feeling the impact of inflation with prices of necessities like cooking oil, eggs and chicken increased significantly since the first of July.
Understandably, many expressed their concerns on social media platforms as the increase has affected their livelihoods.
Frustrated with the situation, singer and influencer Azman Naim 44 Mantra, known for his infamous controversial covers often written on politics, world news, trends and people, uploaded a new video currently receiving a lot of feedback on social media sites.
This time, Azman covers the legendary Malaysian group, Alleycats. The singer-songwriter turned Alleycats’ hit single ‘Jika Kau Bercinta Lagi’ into a parody:
Azman seems to poke fun at ministers who commented on the issue of the rising price of eggs, asking Malaysians to consume ‘fewer eggs’ instead.
The Malaysian government announced the price of chicken and eggs would be freely floated, but was cancelled just 3 days after.
The price of a standard whole chicken rose 5.4% while eggs increased from 4.6% to 5.1% depending on grades.
