Netizens more concerned about having running water
Despite the joyous occassion, netizens replying to the Menteri Besar's tweets don't seem impressed with Subang Jaya's new status. Most are understandably more concerned about the never ending water issues in Selangor, including the new city:
@AmirudinShari Tiada maknanya diistihar Bandaraya tapi ketiadaan air sepanjang masa...Shah Alam dah jadi Bandaraya tapi sehingga ke saat ini kawasan kami masih lagi tiada air...@air_selangor please tak akan nak tunggu sehingga Jumaat 23/10 the latest!!!

Nak mandi...
Saya tak kisah pun taraf subang jaya tu berubah jd apa.. asalkan masalah air selesai..
Kalau setiap bulan ad masalah air, Tambah lagi 20 bandaraya sekalipun rakyat tak bangga.
Subang Jaya takde air ini, jangan malukan taraf Bandaraya. Bandaraya mana ada keputusan air(bekalan air tiada) sebab Town Planner akan ada kontinjensi plan? Macamana tu?

Being a Bandaraya will be an embarrassment if getting the basic regular water supply is like living in a kampung. No, wait. I can’t remember my kampung ever experienced water disruption.

The angry netizens sure have a point. What's the point of fancy names and status if even the basic necessities aren't met?
Let's hope the new city status brings some kind of betterment for the people.
