Some women may dream of marrying hunky superheroes like Captain America or Iron Man or even maybe Wolverine…but for one Sarawakian woman, it’s Ultraman Taro. For their majlis persandingan, her husband donned a full costume of the Japanese alien to walk down the red carpet.
Ultraman Taro is the titular character of the 1973 Ultra Series, and the costume is red, silver, and white in colour and features ‘Ultra Horns.’ Various parts of the costume impressively were able to light up.
In a TikTok video posted by @redrangerspenang, which has amassed 13.2M views within only two days, the groom is seen walking his bride, who is also wearing red, down a red carpet. The groom is then seen sitting on the ‘pelamin’ still in his costume as he clutches his bride’s hand.

Comments poured in from TikTok users, such as “So if he needs to pee, does he just hold it in?”. Another said, “I wanted to wear a Kamen Rider outfit, but my husband wouldn’t let me.” “Are you afraid of getting caught by your first wife?” joked another.

mStar reported in an interview with 26-year-old Mohamad Zulhafizie Senin that the costume was ordered from Indonesia for over RM2,000, including delivery fees. He first ordered it in July 2023 when he met his 29-year-old wife, Nur Qayyimah Ahmad Rosli.
“I already promised my wife when I first got to know her,” said Zulhafizie, who hails from Miri, Sarawak. “I asked her, would you accept it if I became Ultraman? She said she would. So, I ordered the outfit when I got to know her to be worn for our wedding ceremony.” He explained that he wore traditional garments for the akad nikah ceremony and only wore the Ultraman costume for the persandingan ceremony.

Zulhafizie said that he had been an Ultraman fan since childhood and had amassed a collection of merchandise and costumes over the years. He matched perfectly with his wife because they shared the same interests and first met during a cosplay event. He owns 10 costumes, some of which he bought and some he made himself. Meanwhile, his wife is a gamer and also enjoys collecting figurines. Zulhafizie elaborated that he frequently joins cosplay competitions and has now been elevated to jury status.
He mentioned that he hopes their children will also enjoy the same interests and hobbies as them. He also said that the negative comments online don’t faze him. “I’m thankful because my family supports my interests and allows me to enter competitions. So, when I see negative comments, it doesn’t bother me. My wife said the same thing. People don’t understand. When you are young, you can’t afford to buy it. Now that you’re an adult, we relive our childhood phases.”
This isn’t the first time someone has donned a costume for their wedding, as the owner of the page @redrangerspenang wore a Kamen Rider Black outfit while his wife wore a Pink Ranger costume.

We must wonder… what do the Ultraman’s in-laws think of him? We wish the two a happy marriage!!!
