Hot off the opening of Pavilion Damansara Heights comes The Exchange TRX, the mall located next to the third tallest building in Malaysia, The Exchange 106. If you didn't know, the Tun Razak Exchange is 70-acre development by the scandal-fraught 1MDB company.

The project includes 26 buildings in the area with many headquarters for companies like HSBC, Affin Bank, and Prudential, but the public-facing development—and one most people care about—is The Exchange TRX.

At the time of writing, there are no clear road signs to enter The Exchange TRX parking and we ended up parking at an open air carpark outside of the TRX area to save time.

During the opening day, most people complained about hour-long waits to get into the parking, which doesn't bode well for the mall if they decide to throw a big event. We hear the best way to enter is through the Kampung Pandan roundabout, but that's where people were stuck in a jam for an hour.

Anchor Tenant Seibu welcomes you

Luxury Japanese department store Seibu opened its doors as the anchor tenant of The Exchange TRX with four floors that include men, women, and children's departments, as well as a food and grocer.

SEIBU is home to over 700 luxury, international, contemporary, and Japanese brands. Over 100 of these brands are making their debut in the Malaysian market exclusively at SEIBU.

Fine Jewellery brands include FRED, Damiani, FOPE and Niessing. Other luxury brands include Montblanc, Mulberry, Manolo Blahnik, Giuseppe Zanotti, Smythson, Pierre Hardy, Forest Scarf and many more.

Hypebeasts will be glad to see Supreme making an appearance in the mall next to the Japanese brand Comme des Garcons (who are based in Paris).

For food, Seibu has more than 11 dine-in restaurants and cafes and many food kiosks including Sushi Suzuki (first time in Malaysia & exclusive at SEIBU), La Marche (first time in Malaysia &
exclusive at SEIBU), Wagyu Beef One-Six, Miyatake Udon, Fans Premium Sweets Foundry, C3 Lab, Mori Kohi, Chabashira Tea Roastery, Tarbushi Ramen, and Kenny Hills Bakers.

Check out the playground on the roof

The Exchange TRX has a really good children's park on the roof that you may have seen on social media. There's a water play area, a cove with rock climbing, and a castle with slides. It's truly well-built and is an unusually thoughtful element when you consider that there are no parks in malls anywhere in KL. There's also toilets for parents and children, which is one of the most important things for parents.

From Sungai Wang Plaza, to Pavilion KL, not a single mall along Jalan Bukit Bintang has facilities for children or parents with children, just think about that. In contrast, The Exchange has thoughtful placement of toilets for parents and plenty of space for kids to roam about with tenants that cater to both parents and children.

Check out https://www.theexchange.my/ for the latest on what shops are available there and pretty useless directions to the mall.
