Non-smokers, rejoice! Smokers with a consicence, rejoice! Indiscriminate smokers without a conscience... continue with your ways!

According to The Star, the new regulation was announced by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam under the Food Act 1983.

If you're a flagrant smoker who huffs and puffs wherever you go, you need to stop going to these spaces:
  1. Observation towers in national and state parks.
  2. Public parks – any open area for the purposes of leisure and recreation containing soft or hard landscapes, or both, such as pedestrian paths, playing fields, game courts and playgrounds, except open public car parks.
  3. National parks
  4. State parks – an area which has been gazetted as a state park, reserved land or permanent reserved forest under any of the laws.
  5. Camp site – a space designated for the purpose of setting up tents for camping activities including any building within the site .
  6. Canopy bridge – a pedestrian path connecting the trees, including the resting place.

It is the responsibility of local councils to enforce these new regulations as public parks are under their jurisdiction. There's no word as yet as to the method of enforcement, or if it would even work. These regulations only apply to Peninsula Malaysia.
