When you decide to dig up something, you'll never know what you'll find.

Whatever you think you would find, it's definitely not what a group of construction workers had in mind.

Ssss-scary discovery!

The workers at a construction site in Marang, Terengganu were shocked and shaken recently after coming face-to-face with two massive reticulated pythons.

The news of the discovery was shared by the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) on its official Twitter account, along with pictures of the giant reptiles.

According to APM, the pythons were discovered at a construction site in Kampung Gong Nangka.

The first snake reportedly weighs 250kg and was around 5.8 metres long, while the second snake weighed in at over 100kg and measuring 4.2 metres long.

Yep, those are massive snakes alright.

According to Malay Mail, the APM was called in to extract the pythons, which thankfully, they managed to do so without any additional drama.

Marang District APM Officer Lieutenant (PA) Mujahid Abd Wahab told Harian Metro that the two reptiles will be handed to the Jabatan Perlindungan Hidupan Liar dan Taman Negara (Perhilitan) Terengganu for further action.

According to Mujahid, Perhilitan will then release the snakes back into their natural habitat.

The world's longest snake

The reticulated python (Malayopython reticulatus) is the world’s longest snake that is native to South and Southeast Asia.

According to the Natural History Museum, the longest reticulated python ever found was discovered in 1912 and measured in at a staggering 10 meters long!

Here's another piece of not-so-fun fact for you guys: a reticulated python can open its jaws wide enough to swallow a human being whole.

Well, we guess the construction workers can thank their lucky stars that the reptiles weren't feeling really peckish when they found them.
