The Pfizer/BioNTec vaccine gives 95 per cent protection against COVID-19, provided that two doses of the vaccine are taken.

This was confirmed in the largest real-world study, which looked at Israel’s national vaccination campaign, which reportedly is one of the countries with the highest number of fully vaccinated adults.

According to a report by AFP, the study which was published in the Lancet medical journal, revealed that the vaccine was extremely effective in protecting even elderly individuals.

Two doses provides more protection

Two shots for the most protection.

The study found that receiving two doses of the vaccine gives 95.3 per cent protection against COVID-19 and 96.7 per cent protection against death seven days after the second dose.

After 14 days, that protection increases to 96.5 per cent and 98 per cent, respectively.

For those who only took one dose of the vaccine, it only provides for 57.7 per cent of protection against COVID-19 and 77 per cent against death.

All the more reason to get two doses of vaccine, don’t you think?
