The COVID-19 pandemic has really been horrible for a lot of businesses and employees.
It's been so bad, in fact, that a lot of Malaysians out there are reportedly negatively affected.
Pay cuts, loss of perks and more
A Jobstreet survey has shown that nine out of 10 Malaysians have been impacted by the pandemic, with 48 per cent of employees saying that they have experienced negative impact on remuneration and salary, The Sun reported.
Ask your friends and family, and you will surely find many who have faced pay cuts and loss of "perks".
The survey indicated that one in three employees have experience a salary reduction of up to 30 pe rcent.
More people (66 per cent) have also been burdened with widened job scope (i.e. having to do work that they don't usually have to do).
This trend is even more prevalent at 68 pe cent among those holding jobs with higher pay and working wiith large organisations.
According to the survey, educators were the most impacted by increased workload, with 54 per cent of those working in the industry complaining of this due to online learning.
About 45 per cent of people working in the manufacturing industry has also responded to the survey saying that they have had to do more work due to increase in demands.
Although employees who work full time and for a longer period at a company have more of a job security compared to others, reduced pay and bonuses and increased responsibilities have created unhappiness among them.
The survey shows that this unhappiness is especially prevalent among those working in the service sectors and those with young children.
On another note, Jobstreet has come up with Under #TogetherAhead campaign to help jobseekers.
If you're are unemployed or wish to change jobs, you can find out more about the campaign on its Facebook page.
