After a rough few months due to the pandemic and the Movement Control Order (MCO), things are looking up for the Taiping Zoo and Night Safari (ZTNS).

In fact, they have been blessed with the arrival of a couple of baby animals lately.

Babies galore

The zoo welcomed four gorgeous red dholes.
The zoo said in a statement quoted by Malay Mail that they welcomed two sets of babies: red dhole pups (also known as Asiatic wild dog, whistling dog, mountain wolf, Indian wild dog or the red dog) as well as orang utan babies.

According to ZTNS, four red dhole pups were born on 31 December last year, making it a total of 15 red dholes in the zoo.

“Now, the cubs are left with their mother at their hiding place within their display cage to let them feel at ease,” said the zoo.

Welcome, baby orang utan.
Meanwhile, ZTNS also welcomed a pair of orang utan babies on 23 December last year and 5 February of this year.

“The first baby was born to nine-year-old Katarina while the second baby was delivered by 18-year-old Wasabi,” the zoo said.

Meet baby Laroot, everybody!
To top it all off, the zoo also said in the statement that they had finally given names to two male elephants that were born at the zoo on 30 December 2018 and 8 February 2019.

“The first calf named Laroot was delivered by its mother Taiping while the second calf named Boyan was delivered by its mother Jaya.”

So many babies! Congratulations to Taiping Zoo!
