Taylor’s University Knife Attack Leaves Student in ICU: Here’s What We Know So Far
Last Monday (July 14), a shocking knife attack was reported at the Taylor’s University campus. The incident, which occurred around 6:30 pm, left a 20-year-old female foreign student in critical condition.
According to a report by NST, the victim sustained a neck injury and was rushed to University Malaya Medical Centre, where she was placed in the Red Zone of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Thankfully, she has since been reported to be in stable condition.
The suspect has been identified as the victim’s ex-boyfriend

Further investigation revealed that the suspect, a 21-year-old male foreigner, was the victim’s former boyfriend. SCMP reported that he was apprehended by police shortly after the attack, thanks to the swift actions of students who witnessed the incident.
One Taylor’s University student claimed that the relationship between the victim and the suspect had deteriorated dramatically after their breakup. The suspect allegedly threatened the victim’s cat when she insisted on ending the relationship.
“He sprayed the cat with bug spray. I think it really died. There’s a video of the incident being shared among students,” the student said.

Subang Jaya District Police Chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat stated that the suspect claimed to be upset over false accusations made by the victim.
“The suspect was upset after the victim claimed he had stopped her from leaving the house,” he said, as reported by NST.
The suspect is currently being held on remand
A remand order was issued by Magistrate Mohamad Redza Azhar Rezali under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The investigation is being conducted under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt using a weapon or dangerous object.
If convicted, the suspect faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine, or both.
Taylor’s University issues public statement
On Tuesday, Taylor’s University released a public statement regarding the incident. Through their Instagram page, the university confirmed that the suspect had been arrested and that the victim is currently in stable condition.
They also stated that they are working closely with authorities on the investigation and urged the public to refrain from speculation.
