Administrative targeted movement control order (TEMCO) will be imposed in three zones in Aman Jaya, Kedah starting midnight until further notice.

The public cannot enter the three zones, namely Kenanga, Mawar and Melur, nor can those living in the area leave their homes.

Senior Minister for Security Ismail Sabri Yaakob, during his daily press conference, said that the Health Ministry will announce in the near future when the TEMCO will end.

Over 20,000 people affected

"The administrative TEMCO will involve 23,360 individuals from 265 households. All individuals will be screened by Health Ministry staff," the minister said.

The police and the army will be cordoning the areas off. Roadblocks will also be in place at all entrances to the zones.

"Individuals who work outside of the TEMCO areas are not allowed to leave the area to get to work outside of the area. Those from outside who work within the TEMCO areas are also not allowed to go to work," Ismail Sabri said.

He also reminded employers to not take any action against employees who could not go to work due to the TEMCO in their areas.

Ismail Sabri said that the employees didn't have a choice as it is an order from the government. However, he encouraged both parties to discuss the possibilities of other arrangements such as working from home.

Only essential services will be available

Markets and restaurants will still be open
Other public spaces such as places of worship and educational institutions are also instructed to close during this period.

"For businesses...only essential services are allowed. Such as restaurants and others related to food; grocery stores; petrol stations; pharmacies; clinics; and anything that falls under essential services are allowed," the minister said.

Ismail Sabri, however, said that although food-related businesses are allowed to operate, they can only offer take-away services.

The operating hours for businesses that are allowed to open will be between 8am and 8pm.

Clinics and hospitals can operate 24 hours, but pharmacies and medicine shops can only open till 8pm

Those living in the TEMCO area do not have to worry about buying fresh produce as the morning markets will be allowed to operate as usual, with strict SOPs in place, of course.

Only one person from a household can go to the market at a time.

Just remember whatever SOPs you followed during MCO and all should be well.
