Today is Desa Water Park's Last Day
Today, September 30th, is the last day of service for Desa Water Park in Taman Danau Desa, Jalan Kelang Lama. In its place you'll be getting a mixed development consisting of high-end bungalows, multi-storey towers and condominiums, as well as Federal Territories Affordable Housing (Rumawip), reports The Star.
The sale was an outright sale to the highest bidder and from here on in, DBKL will no longer have ties in that land. "It was sold on the condition that the developer agreed to build affordable homes at the site," said a source. We'd like to know what the developer deems "affordable" though.

The StarMetro reports that the "highest bidder" in question is Aset Kayamas Sdn Bhd, who confirmed they had acquired the land. When asked about their plans for the land, they mentioned affordable housing and giving back to the community. In "giving back" to the community, the company spokesperson mentioned the London River Thames as a source of inspiration. What this actually means is anyone's guess. Till then, you have till 6pm to visit Desa Water Park and soak in the nostalgia. Or soak in the fact that you've never actually been there.
