Nowadays, we hear all sorts of stories on what people are doing to protect themselves from COVID-19 or even treating them after being infected.

From stories of inhaling clove steam to eating herbal traditional medicines and even using certain plants around the house to ‘ward off’ the deadly virus, there’s always something new being tried out.

In Malaysia, we’re sure that there are plenty of people offering traditional treatments during the pandemic, including this bomoh (shaman) from Kelantan.

Bomoh cancels own appointments

The viral flyer.
Ustaz Mat Tok Bomoh recently went viral after his flyers offering COVID-19 treatment services circulated on social media.

However, in a turn of events, the bomoh, who is also known as Ustaz Dor, decided to cancel his services over fears of being infected by his patients.

According to Malaysiakini, Ustaz Dor and his friend Ustaz Mat, made the decision after they realised that the treatment contradicts with modern day medicine.

“Initially me and my friend wanted to treat COVID-19 patients or close contacts using Islamic treatment with the help of Al-Quran,” Ustaz Dor said.

Stay safe and follow the SOPs, guys.
“But there were conflicting views with modern day medicine plus a lot of people also didn’t believe in traditional Islamic treatment in fighting COVID-19.”

He added that the cancellation was also made due to fears of getting himself and his family infected with COVID-19.

After the flyers went viral, netizens who were amused by it took to Twitter to talk about it.

Ustaz Dor was also surprised that over 50 COVID-19 patients contacted him for treatment.

“I’m sorry for not being able to treat COVID-19 patients. I would like to ask everyone to stop spreading the flyers or info about the treatment,” he added.

Well, even the shaman believes in COVID-19 and wants to stay safe. Why shouldn’t you do the same?
