Starting next year, tourists visiting Melaka will enjoy free entry to selected attraction, provided they are dressed in the traditional Nyonya kebaya.

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Jusoh said the initiative is part of the state government's efforts to appreciate and preserve Peranakan heritage, which has long been a hallmark of Melaka’s cultural landscape.

“Melaka is unique, and the decision to offer complimentary entry to attractions is meant to honour the long history and rich heritage of the Peranakan Chinese and Chetti communities in our state,” he said, as reported by The Star.

It is understood that the complimentary package will include access to the Melaka River Cruise and the Melaka Zoo.

Ab Rauf added that the initiative aligns with the state’s broader tourism strategy to highlight Melaka’s multiracial identity and encourage visitors to immerse themselves in local traditions.

He also stated that the state government will continue to focus on sustainable and inclusive tourism, ensuring that economic prosperity reaches all communities.

“We will continue to collaborate with the private sector and community groups to strengthen tourism and create more opportunities for the people of Melaka,” he said.
