It looks like the whole 'Veveonah-accused-of-lying' debacle is coming to an end, and on a good note, we must add.

A few days after allegations against Veveonah Mosibin’s were made by Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin, the officials from the Sabahan student’s university finally came forward to clear the air.

Confirms examinations

Datuk Masidi Manjun, Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Malaysia Sabah, has confirmed that Veveonah sat for her final semester exams from 9-12 June 2020 online.

The information was obtained after Masidi had a meeting with the Timbalan Naib Chanselor and Director of Pusat Asasi Sains UMS on Tuesday (8 September), and the result of that discussion was shared via Masidi’s Twitter account.

The former Sabah minister added that Veveonah is “an exemplary student and has been offered to do Marine Science degree course in UMS.”

Apparently, the dean that Kudat MP Abdul Rahim Bakri had got his information from was misquoted.

The dean reportedly said that there were no exams for degree students, but there were one scheduled for science foundation students.

“UMS and the BoD of which I am the Chairman will lose credibility if we fail to uphold truth. I did not bash anyone, I merely told the facts as they stand,” Masidi said, when a Twitter user thanked him for the clarification.

Malaysians stand behind Veve

#VForVeveonah!Masidi’s statement puts an end to all the allegations raised by Zahidi and the Kudat MP, who fueled the fire even more when he accused Veveonah of having her own “hidden agenda” when she climbed the tree to take her exams.

After the confirmation, the #VForVeveonah hashtag was trending on Twitter as Malaysians showed their support and solidarity over the predicament that fell onto the student.

We hope stern action will be taken against the two ministers who started the ruckus, and may this be a lesson to other lawmakers and politicians in the country.
