*Note: We will be updating this from time to time. MKN has yet to release the full SOPs so we're consolidating information from announcements made by different ministers and other official sources.

Conditional MCO (CMCO) will be implemented for the whole of Sabah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, but what in the world does this mean?

FYI, for those of you that don't know, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob made the announcement on 12 October.

He said that CMCO would begin at 12.01 am on 13 October in Sabah while for Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, it would begin midnight 14 October.



The CMCO for all the stated areas will go on for two weeks.

Although most of us are familiar with the term, many are still confused about what's allowed and what's not allowed.

To help you, we have listed everything (we know) down below.

The terms

1# Movement between districts is not allowed. However, if you work outside of your district, you can show your work tag or a letter from your employer to leave the district.

2# Movement between states is not allowed except if you work outside the state. For example if you reside in Tanjung Malim and work in Shah Alam, you will be allowed to travel between states but you will have to get a letter from your employer.

3# Only two people from a household are allowed to go out together to buy necessities.

4# All education institutes including schools, kindergartens, tahfiz schools, colleges and universities, public parks and recreational areas will be closed.

5# All government offices will operate as usual.

6# All religious institutes will be closed.

7# All sports, recreational, social and cultural events including weddings will not be allowed.

8# Night clubs and entertainment outlets cannot be opened.

9# All economic sectors including small businesses will be allowed to operate but with strict SOPs.


10# Pasar borong and pasar pagi will be open.

11# Food delivery is allowed until 8pm

12# Transportation of good and services and other necessary items are allowed between states. For example if you need to deliver necessary items from Kelantan or Negeri Sembilan to Selangor, it's allowed.



The minister also said that more detailed SOPs would be announced by the National Security Council (MKN) soon.

Additional info on CMCO in Sabah

Checks on MKN's Facebook page show that additional SOPs have been elaborated on for the conditional MCO in Sabah.

Other than the points mentioned above, it was also detailed that:

• Pasar Borong and daily markets will be allowed to operate from 6am to 2pm.
• Convenience stores and shops selling necessities will be allowed to operate from 6am to 6pm.
• Restaurants, eateries, warungs and others will be allowed to operate from 6am to 6pm.This is limited to drive-thrus and takeaways.
• Petrol stations will be allowed to operate from 6am to 6pm.
• Taxis, e-hailing services and food delivery services will be allowed to operate from 6am to 8pm.
• Express busses and other busses will not be allowed to operate.
• Pharmacies and medicine shops will be allowed to operate from 6am to 6pm.
• Clinics and hospitals will be allowed to operate for 24hours.
• Farming, fishing and agricultural activities will be allowed.
• For other industrial operations including IKS, they will need to apply for permission to operate from the Sabah State Disaster Management Committee.

It's slightly frustrating that not all the info has been laid out properly, but we guess that the guys from MKN are streamlining all the procedures and will release it in the days to come.
