After discussions with the artist, officials decided that there was no way to save the 'COVID-19 Heroes' mural that was recently vandalised in Shah Alam.

The iconic mural was painted over with white paint by authorities from the Shah Alam Municipal Council today.

So sad!

The artist, 27-year-old Muhammad Suhaimi Ali or better known as Miey Ali along with his friends, Abdul Hadi Ramli and Firdaus Nordin took two weeks to complete the portraits.

The personalities featured include Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri.

Thank you for the opportunity

Posting about the matter on his Facebook page, Miey Ali uploaded several pictures and videos and just thanked fans for their support towards his work.

"I want to say that you for supporting my talent and for allowing me to show all of you my talent. I would like to say sorry. There is no more mural at U12 for people to take pictures with. Hero is gone," he wrote.

A horrible act

Meanwhile, when asked by Rojak Daily to comment on the vmatter, health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah succinctly replied "a despicable act".

About a week ago, Dr Noor Hisham had thanked the artist and even visited the mural himself.

The overjoyed artist also got to meet the King and the Queen who went to Shah Alam to see the stunning mural for themselves.

We feel terrible for Miey Ali but we hope that this incident does not dampen his spirits for future projects.

A check on his Facebook page showed that he is currently working on a stunning new project on frontliners which features Dr Noor Hisham and what looks like a Grab rider.

We can't wait to see the full finished piece.

As for the vandals, abang polis, we trust that you will nab them soon!
