A traffic policeman in Kuala Lumpur has drawn praises from social media users for his act of good deed.

A 32-second video showing Sub-Inspector Azman Shah Ishak covering oil slicks on the road has gone viral online.

In the video, which was shared on the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department’s (JSPT) Facebook page, Azman can be seen walking back and forth to collect sand from the side of the pavement to cover some oil slicks on a road at the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) near Angkasapuri, Kuala Lumpur.

Assistant Commissioner Sarifudin Mohd Salleh, the chief of JSPT, said in a press release that the oil slicks were caused by an accident involving three vehicles last Friday (18 February).

“The perceptive Sub-Inspector Azman Shah Ishak from the Kuala Lumpur JSPT who was at the scene, acted fast by covering the oil slicks with dirt so that it wouldn’t endanger other road users.

“His actions were recorded and have gone viral, and he has been receiving praise from the public,” Sarifudin was quoted as saying.
