“We don’t complain when you take our jobs” — SG Woman Criticises M’sians for Complaining About S’poreans Using RON95
It’s no secret that RON95 petrol is subsidised exclusively for Malaysian citizens. However, that hasn’t stopped multiple incidents involving foreign-registered vehicles illegally pumping the subsidised fuel sparking outrage among many Malaysians.
In a recent post on Threads, a Singaporean woman criticised Malaysians for being hypocritical claiming they “steal” jobs from locals in Singapore, yet complain when foreigners use RON95.
In her post, she included screenshots from Singaporean news outlets reporting on two separate incidents: one involving delivery jobs taken by foreigners, including Malaysians, and another involving a Malaysian man who was fined for working illegally as a delivery rider.

“Malaysians slamming Singaporeans for crossing the border for cheaper groceries and petrol… funny. We don’t complain when you come here to work, take up jobs, or when your riders work illegally and steal delivery jobs meant for our locals."
"Moral of the story: before you judge, look in the mirror,” she wrote.
Unsurprisingly, the post drew a wave of angry reactions from Malaysians who felt the woman’s remarks were unfair and overly generalised.
One user said, "We don't complain about Singaporeans coming over for cheaper grocery, we are complaining because you guys ignorantly use the petrol that is meant for Malaysians. It's something that is reserved specifically for us using the tax that we PAID for."
