Forget sandy beaches and green farms; why not retire in a cramped-up city with lousy internet?

International website International Living recently released their annual Retirement Index and guess what, guys? We're in the top ten!

The index, which measures 12 factors for a happy and successful retirement, ranked Malaysia fifth in the list, just after countries like Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama and Ecuador.

In fact, we were the only Asian country on the list.

Columbia, Portugal, Nicaragua, Spain and Peru round up the top ten.

Yes, we are!
According to the website, Malaysia is a "gastronomic delight, and the street food here is hands down the best in Asia."

(Oh, we couldn't agree more!)

International Living also mentioned that the low renting costs (a couple can live comfortably on USD1,500 [RM6,030] a month), cheap healthcare as well as awesome holiday destinations play a huge factor in why people choose to retire in Malaysia.

The Retirement Index compiles the top 24 retirement havens in the world for a couple of retirees living with at least an income of USD1,500 (RM6,030) per month. The ranking is based on the cost of living, retirement benefits, climate and healthcare.

If you can stand the slow internet speed, then, Malaysia is the best place for you.
