But now, winter might bring along a spike in COVID-19 cases.
Cold weather problems
Bernama reported that the government is preparing itself for a possible increase in COVID-19 infections as several parts of the world are heading into the winter season.Despite not experiencing winter in Malaysia, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah told the news agency that it is wise to consider and react to what's happening in countries that do experience winter weather.
Countries like France, Spain, Japan and Korea saw an increase in COVID-19 cases during cold weather conditions, Dr Noor Hisham said.
“So, our concern is that there would be an increase in cases during that period and due to this we have to make preparations,” he was quoted by Bernama as saying.
On top of that, a mutation of the COVID-19 virus has made the coronavirus spread easier and faster, so Dr Noor Hisham has advised Malaysians to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set by the government.
