If you’re a Yoodo user, then we have interesting news for you. Due to the merger of Axiata Bhd and Digi.com Bhd, the company will have to divest Yoodo with the next 18 months as part of the merger deal.

According to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC): “If the Applicant fails to divest the Divestment Business within eighteen (18) months from the Closing, the Applicant commits to cease Yoodo’s operation within three months of the expiry of Divestiture Period,”.

Both Celcom and Digi are not allowed to acquire, restore or revive Yoodo, and even absorb its users for three years.

This means Yoodo wil be forced to cease operations or sold off to another owner with no ties to either Celcom or Digi.

All tangible and intangible assets used by Yoodo and its operations are all part of the divestment.

This move is seen as a loss for users especially among the young who enjoys the flexibility Yoodo offers in its packages.

At the same time, many Digi and Celcom users are excited for the merger as this possibly means the duo may offer better deals in the near future.
