As some of you party-goers would know, some of the outlets at TREC entertainment zone along Jalan Tun Razak were exclusively allowed to operate until 5am.
However, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is reportedly planning to shorten the operating hours following advice from the police.
According to Kuala Lumpur mayor Tan Sri Mhd Amid Nordin Abdul Aziz, entertainment areas such as Jalan P. Ramlee, Changkat Bukit Bintang and Sri Hartamas have been given permission to operate until 3am, while those located out of the designated zone can only operate until 1am, as reported by Malay Mail.
DBKL has also stopped issuing permits for entertainment outlets that wish to operate in residential areas such as Taman Tun Dr Ismail and Bangsar due to complaints from the residents. Existing outlets operating in housing areas may face relocation in the future.
Although not confirmed, this revision could be linked to the United States embassy’s recent warning to the American citizens here.
The citizens were reportedly told to avoid visiting The Beach Club at Jalan P. Ramlee because there have been cases where drinks were spiked and foreigners were the main target.
DBKL is working closely with the police on this case.
