We know what you’re thinking, and no; it’s still too early to get in the Christmas mood.
Before that, we will be celebrating an equally vibrant festival: Deepavali, also known as the Festival of Lights.
Deepavali is celebrated on 26 October this year, and if you’ve observed one before, you know that it involves a lot of colours, lights and partying (ahem!).
And one mall you can experience all the vibrancy and all the colours of Deepavali is none other than Central i-City Shopping Centre.
That’s right, one of Malaysia’s newest malls – it opened its doors in March this year – will be throwing a massive festive celebration just for you, the shoppers.
Called the ‘Sparktacular Deepavali’, it will take place from 4 to 28 October 2019.
Of course, it being a massive celebration, you can expect tonnes of activities lined up for you to take part in and the best part of this it’s free for all on a first come, first served basis.
So, what’s in store for you, you ask? Here’s a list of activities Central i-City has planned:
#1 Deepavali Kolam
What’s a Deepavali celebration without a Kolam, right? Don’t worry, Central i-City will make sure that their Kolam is as vibrant as your personality.
You will find a mini Diwali Kolam in front of Redemption Lounge, with the surrounding pillars wrapped with flower garland to welcome you. It is a sight to behold, and it’s definitely pretty enough to be on your Instagram. Perfect to re-create your very own Bollywood-style photoshoot and show off your festive OOTDs!
#2 Deepavali Kolam Competition
Think you can design a better Kolam than Central i-City? Don’t just talk; prove it!
There will be a Kolam designing competition that you and your friends (or family) can take part in to showcase your creativity. For your hard work, you will be rewarded with prizes worth up to RM1,000.
The Kolam Competition will take place on 12 October (Saturday) and places are limited, so head on over to the shopping centre’s Customer Service counter on the Ground Floor or Level 2 to register now.
#3 Deepavali Performances, Workshops and More
It wouldn’t be a celebration without some fun performances and activities to take part in, so Central i-City has so many activities lined up, you’ll practically have to stay there the entire day to soak it all in.
For example, they will be organising several classes, such as the Henna Art Workshop and Candle Jar Painting workshop. These are free for everyone to enter, but of course, on a first come, first served basis. There will also be awesome performances throughout the period, including a Bollywood Dance and a Bollywood Instrumental performance.

That’s not all the fun you’ll be having at Central i-City this October. On top of their Deepavali celebrations, they will also be throwing a spooky Halloween party for all you ghouls out there.
From 26 October to 3 November, you can take part in the Halloween Haunted House, where you have to brave through their super spooky mystery maze to win cool prizes and shopping vouchers.
All you have to do is spend RM150 in a single receipt anywhere in the mall and voila redeem your entrance ticket, you get to face the ghouls and win some cool stuff to bring home.
Not only that, there are other Halloween-themed activities lined up for you, such as a Halloween Mask workshop, Pumpkin DIY classes and Halloween Face Painting sessions for you to get in the mood for all things spooky. You can find the full schedule listed here.
