Remember ‘The Amazing Race Asia’?

The exhilarating pace, the crazy challenges and the final race towards the finish line that would have you gripping the edge of your seat.

Every week, we tuned in to support our very own Malaysian contestants (the Chong sisters are our bae) and we celebrated every time they crossed the finish line.

Well, we have some news for you: there’s a new reality TV show coming up and a couple of famous Malaysians are starring in it!

The new series, set to premiere on November 18 on AXN Asia (and available on YouTube and Facebook), is even more exciting (and prettier, thanks to its gorgeous backdrop).

Challenge accepted!

Called the ‘Dubai Ultimate Challenge’, the series will see six celebrity contestants from three Southeast Asian countries (Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia) battling it out to see who will reign supreme.

During seven awesome episodes, the contestants will be put through their paces: from sky diving over the iconic Palm Jumeirah and ziplining through the high rises of Dubai Marina to souk shopping on a budget and cruising through the mesmerising desert.

With each challenge, the celebs have to create the best Insta-story to win the episode. At the end of the series, the team with the most Dubai ‘pins’ will be crowned the champion and gets to choose a super fan to visit Dubai for free!

Doesn’t that sound exciting?

Oh, and did we tell you that the challenges are set against the backdrop of the beautiful city of Dubai?

The show will be hosted by our favourite TV personalities Alan Wong and Justin Bratton from ‘Asia’s Got Talent’ fame, and will be produced by AXN.

Who will be representing Malaysia?

If you’re a fan of Malaysian drama series, these two actresses are definitely household names in Malaysia. Even if you’re not, you would have probably heard of them too.

Representing Malaysia in the ‘Dubai Ultimate Challenge’ are:

SHARIFAH SAKINAH

A popular actress, Sharifah Sakinah is no stranger in the local entertainment industry. She has starred in several high-profile local TV series and movies, such as ‘Girlfriend Aku Dari Neraka’, ‘My Coffee Prince’ and ‘Kimchi Untuk Awak’.

Fun fact: Sharifah is also a hardcore fitness junkie, so we know for sure that she’s gonna smoke her opponents on the show.

SITI SALEHA

Just like her fellow teammate, Siti Saleha is also household name in the local entertainment industry. She has starred in several popular local TV series and movies such as ‘7 Hari Mencintaiku’, ‘KL Zombi’ and ‘Langit Cinta’.

Fun fact: The 29-year-old has appeared in a reality TV series before, titled ‘Extreme Ends’. We could say that Siti has the experience to outwit her fellow contestants.

OK, when can I watch this series?

‘Dubai Ultimate Challenge’ is set to premiere on AXN HD [Astro Ch 721] beginning 18 November, Mondays and Wednesdays at 7.40pm.

You can catch a repeat of the show on Sundays, with back-to-back episodes at 5.40pm. It’s also available on YouTube and Facebook, if that’s an easier option.

Remember to tune in to support our local girls, yeah?

Wait, final question: why is the show based in Dubai?

That’s because Dubai has a diversity of attractions and entertainment, that’s why!

There are plenty of incredible things to see and do in Dubai, so you’ll never get bored, even if you’re on a budget!

Want to check out the world’s tallest building? Head on over to Burj Khalifa. Want to bring home some priceless souvenirs? Take a stroll through the Old Souk. Want to see something truly magical? Hang out at the Dubai Fountain.

And you can’t miss the desert safari featuring the art of falconry, camel rides and a traditional Bedoin campsite meal – that’s a must!

Once you’re back from the sand dunes, head over to the Dubai Mall for some well-earned R&R. One of the world’s largest shopping malls, you’ll find everything you ever dreamed of, plus an amazing diversity of restaurants.

(Top tip: the Dubai Shopping Festival kicks off on 26 December and is celebrating its 25th anniversary with jaw-dropping deals all over the city. Pack an empty suitcase!)

Best of all, Dubai is an all-year-round holiday destination, as there is endless entertainment as well as attractions, restaurants and a vibrant arts and culture scene happening 24/7, 365 days a year.

So, with all that, there’s no better place to shoot a brand-new reality series than Dubai, right?
