Meet The Malaysian Athletes Who Won Medals At The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

The curtain officially fell on the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games yesterday after 11 action-packed days of sporting excellence. Malaysians could not be prouder of our athletes, who gave their all and wrapped up the campaign on a high by surpassing the nation’s medal target.

Malaysia concluded the campaign with an impressive collection of eight gold, three silver and five bronze medals to finish 10th in the overall medal standings.

According to an NST report, the eight gold medals represent the country's best performance since the 2010 New Delhi Commonwealth Games, when Malaysia won 12 gold medals.

What makes this year's achievement even more significant is that it was accomplished by a much smaller contingent of only 59 athletes, including 22 para athletes.

Gold medallists

1. Aniq Kasdan (Weightlifting – Men’s 60kg)

Fun fact: He was the first athlete to win a gold medal for Malaysia at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

2. Muhamad Aznil Bidin (Weightlifting – Men’s 65kg)

Fun fact: He is the first Malaysian athlete to win three consecutive gold medals in weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games.

3. Muhammad Erry Hidayat (Weightlifting – Men’s 79kg)

Fun fact: The 27-year-old athlete is the son of former national weightlifter Hidayat Hamidon, who also won gold at the 1998 Commonwealth Games.

4. Muhammad Hafizuddin Roslin (Weightlifting – Men’s 88kg)

5. Muhamad Syahmi Nor Ghazali (Weightlifting – Men’s 94kg)

Fun fact: He delivered Malaysia’s sixth gold medal at the Commonwealth Games after winning his weightlifting event with a total lift of 347kg.

6. Amir Daniel Abdul Majeed (Judo – Under 81kg)

Fun fact: The athlete, ranked 117th in the world, made history by winning Malaysia’s first Commonwealth Games judo gold medal after defeating South Africa’s Timothy Mewsen, who was ranked 41st in the world.

8. Datuk Abdul Latif Romly (Men’s T20 Long Jump)

1. Siti Aqilah Farhana Draman (Weightlifting – Women’s 86kg)

2. Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple (Men’s Singles Lawn Bowls)

3. Aleena Ahmad Nawawi & Syafiqa Haidar Afif Abdul Rahman (Women’s Pairs Lawn Bowls)

4. Amirul Danial Abdul Rahim & Soufi Rusli (Men’s Pairs Lawn Bowls)

Fun fact: It was Amirul Danial’s first appearance at the Commonwealth Games. Meanwhile, Soufi Rusli won gold in the men’s singles event at the 2017 Southeast Asian Games.

5. Jariah Zakaria & Norazian Daud (Women’s Pairs B6-B8 Para Lawn Bowls)
