5 Standout Highlights from the Attack on Titan: The Final Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur

The exhibition opened yesterday (April 25) and will run until July 21, 2024, at the Fahrenheit88 mall in Bukit Bintang. AoT fans had long awaited its arrival, as it had already set foot in neighbouring countries, such as Singapore and Indonesia.

Organised by Trendic and Ace Media Network (AMN) in Malaysia, Attack On Titan: The Final presents manga artist Hajime Isayama's drafts and sketches from the globally acclaimed series in several immersive zones.

We were invited to its launch, and here are our 5 key standouts from the exhibition, which included first drafts and never-before-seen panels available exclusively at the exhibition.

Concept & experiencing life in the AoT world

Before we started the tour, we were handed an event brochure with a lay of the exhibition. The tour guide then explained that attendees would have to collect nine stamps at each zone to complete the experience fully.

We were then led into a small theatre hall, where visitors were prompted to select their allegiance: "Inside the Wall or Beyond it?" Whatever you decide will lead you down different paths, providing a firsthand life experience within the "Attack on Titan" universe, with different sketches on both sides.

Giant titan head and main battle

After passing through the hall with sketches of life both within and outside the wall, we were led to an enormous titan head.

The exhibition then focuses on the invasion of the Colossal Titan (Bertholdt Hoover) as it breaches the walls and unleashes a horde of titans upon the city. We were shown a huge screen complemented by an actual 3D props screen showing battle scenes from 'Attack On Titan' which genuinely immersed us in the experience.

Sketches and more

Following the battle showcase, we were then led to the parts of the exhibition, which held most of the 180 pieces of manuscript replicas. This was separated into character drawings, final drawings, and an exclusive look at an interview with Hajime Isayama.

These sections were our favourite parts, as the exhibition focused on each of the key characters, such as Eren Jaeger and Mikasa Ackerman, and provided insight into their backgrounds through the showcase of individual sketches and drawings.

In addition to the drawings, there were display cases with some of the series' most iconic items, including a Soldier’s Cloak and an old book in the Eldian language.

Mini town diorama & interactive station

At this exhibit station, visitors are treated to a diorama depicting the town within the walls. This section does well to vividly capture the devastation wrought by invading titans, alongside models reenacting memorable battles.

Also, be sure not to miss the cut-out in the wall where you can put your head for that perfect Titan pose!

This will be the last section for you to complete your brochure with stamps. Once you head out of this section, you’ll be at the final station, greeted by Keith Sades, who will check your brochure for stamps and officiate the training completion ceremony.

During this, you’ll have to decide whether you’d like to join the Scouts Regiment, the Garrison Regiment, or the Military Police Regiment, and be awarded a certificate to officiate the training completion ceremony.

After you have completed your training, the exhibition will have ended, but do make sure to visit the cafe and the merchandise store where you can enjoy themed delicacies and capture memories in the exhibition photobooth, featuring preset scenes from the series.

Overall, we loved the experience and enjoyed how the exhibition immersed attendees through interactive sections.
