HITZ Names NEXT ON HITZ Winner Zach as New HITZ Tonight Co-Host in Revamped Show Format

HITZ has announced a new era for its evening programme with the appointment of NEXT ON HITZ champion Zach as the latest co-host of HITZ Tonight, joining existing announcer Arka on the weekday show.

The new pairing officially debuted on 22 June, 2026, with HITZ Tonight airing every Monday to Friday from 8 PM to 12 AM. The programme aims to provide listeners with an engaging after-work and after-school entertainment experience, featuring the latest music, lively discussions, celebrity gossip, and entertaining stories from both local and international scenes.

As part of the refresh, HITZ Tonight will introduce new content segments focused on gaming, movies and emerging Malaysian talents. The show will also place a stronger emphasis on East Malaysian representation, marking the first time two Borneo-born personalities have hosted an English-language radio programme together on the station.

A dedicated Borneo-focused segment will be introduced to showcase stories, culture, entertainment and talents from Sabah and Sarawak, further expanding the station's efforts to highlight diverse voices and perspectives from across Malaysia.

According to HITZ Brand Manager Sean Farrell Matjeraie, the pairing reflects the station's commitment to evolving alongside its audience.

“By bringing together Zach and Arka, we are ushering in a new direction for HITZ. As a brand, we continue to stay ahead of trends and connect with the new generation of listeners. This fresh combination promises exciting ideas and engaging content that will keep audiences entertained throughout the night,” he said.

Matjeraie added that Zach's victory in the NEXT ON HITZ talent search demonstrated his potential as a radio personality.

“As the NEXT ON HITZ champion, Zach brings a distinctive style and strong credibility, offering listeners a fresh and exciting on-air experience. Paired with Arka’s charismatic personality and vibrant energy, this duo is set to elevate HITZ Tonight, delivering a more dynamic, relatable and impactful experience for our audience.”

The station said its current focus remains on strengthening the HITZ Tonight line-up and developing the new show's content. Decisions regarding potential part-time announcer opportunities for other finalists from the NEXT ON HITZ programme will be announced at a later date, subject to management planning and approvals.

With Zach and Arka leading the evening slot, HITZ hopes to attract new listeners while reinforcing its position as Malaysia's leading English-language radio station. The station believes the duo's contrasting personalities and distinct presenting styles will create a fresh listening experience for audiences tuning in throughout the night.
