The bazaar has always been a staple of Ramadhan in Malaysia, and this holy month, The Westin Kuala Lumpur is bringing the bazaar-inspired experience to life with a spread of nostalgic flavours.
Meticulously curated by Executive Chef Arfizan Rahim and his talented team, The Westin KL’s Ramadhan bazaar highlights familiar flavours loved by Malaysians. We had the opportunity to experience the lively bazaar atmosphere first‑hand to find out if it truly lived up to the vibe.
From salai dishes to chee cheong fun
Located at an al‑fresco site, guests will need to take an escalator down to reach the bazaar area. Upon arrival, they are greeted by the vibrant aroma of freshly cooked dishes, enough to tempt and satisfy even the pickiest eater.

One of the standout dishes at the bazaar was undoubtedly the Kambing Tandoori Golek, packed with robust flavours. Specially curated by Chef Hamid, the dish is paired with Nasi Briyani Kismis, adding an extra layer of richness and depth.
The Westin KL’s bazaar also features some unique offerings, such as Chef Adlin’s Chee Cheong Fun. What sets it apart are its bold fillings, including Chicken Rendang, Lamb Keema, and Kam Heong Prawn. Our favourite was the Chicken Rendang, which was impressively juicy and flavourful.

In addition, the bazaar showcases an extensive selection of Tempoyak and Salai dishes. We had the chance to try the Ayam Salai, which is a definite must‑try. The smokiness of the meat paired with the rich, spiced salai gravy made it particularly memorable.
For those looking for something on the lighter side, the bazaar also offers three types of Lempeng — Coconut, Banana, and Sambal Bilis. Alongside these are a Rojak corner and classic bazaar staples such as Otak‑Otak and Satay.

Signature rendang and seafood on ice
While the bazaar delivers an impressive variety of street‑style dishes, the main buffet spread inside the restaurant is equally unmissable.

The Signature Rendang Corner offers a selection of rendang favourites including Rendang Ayam Kampung Hijau, Rendang Daging Pahang, Rendang Udang Cili Padi, and Rendang Kupang. These Ramadhan and Raya favourites are best paired with Lemang Hitam, Ketupat Palas, and topped off with aromatic Serunding.
The buffet also boasts a diverse selection of flavours, ranging from Eastern to Western cuisines. Fans of Indian food will enjoy dishes such as Mutton Varuval and Aloo Gobi. There is also a Salad Station available for guests who prefer to curate their own lighter bites.

Seafood lovers should not miss the Seafood on Ice station, which features fresh selections including Half Shell Scallops, Flower Crabs, and Black Mussels.
As if that wasn’t impressive enough, the buffet also offers a wide variety of dishes to enjoy with rice, such as Siakap Bakar Mongolian, which is crispy yet succulent, alongside Roasted Duck and Asam Pedas.
For those who prefer to break fast without rice, the Dapur Celur noodle station offers comforting options like Laksa Utara, Chicken Soup, and Mee Udang. The best part? You can customise your portion size and choose your preferred noodles.
Dessert kitchen
Complementing the extensive buffet spread is a dessert selection that’s equally worth talking about.

Curated by Chef Mus, the Dessert Kitchen features a delightful variety of traditional Malaysian desserts such as Bubur Pulut Hitam, Pengat Pisang, Dodol, and an assortment of local kuih including Kuih Ketayap, Tepung Pelita, and Kuih Koci.

Guests can also indulge in sliced cakes of assorted flavours, as well as inventive desserts like Teh Tarik Crème Caramel and Apam Balik Mousse Cake.
Be sure to also leave room for desserts like Churros and Doughnut Susu, which are made fresh on the spot and best enjoyed warm.
