A licensed pest control company was recently accused of animal cruelty after a video showing them allegedly purposely driving over a dog and killing it went viral online.
The incident reportedly took place in a neighbourhood in Ulu Tiram, Johor, at around 11:24 AM on 15 May 2026.

In the video, captured on the dashcam of another car, a red pickup truck can be seen driving quickly before running over a brown dog in the middle of the road. The dog, believed to be a stray, was later seen crying in pain before lying dead on the road.
The video also shows the pickup truck stopping briefly after hitting the animal before disappearing around a corner.
There were also allegations that the driver of the pickup truck doubled back to collect the dog’s remains and was confronted by residents. Other claims also surfaced stating that the pest control company in question is a subcontractor for the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB).

As of this article, the council has yet to issue a statement regarding the allegations.
Malaysians outraged
Needless to say, the video has since caused outrage among Malaysians, with many calling for the incident to be reported to the Veterinary Services Department (DVS) so that justice can be served.
Meanwhile, Persatuan Haiwan Terbiar Malaysia (SAFM) has issued a statement calling for an immediate investigation into the matter.
“SAFM has received multiple emails and messages from the public regarding the viral incident of a stray dog allegedly being purposely run over by a red vehicle. SAFM takes this matter seriously and publicly condemns any form of cruelty, negligence, and inhumane actions towards animals."
"We urge the authorities to act swiftly to verify the facts and identify the driver and those involved at the time of the incident,” wrote the statement.
