The long arm of the law finally caught up with a foreign prisoner who had escaped police custody, after he was rearrested 11 days later.
In a video that went viral on 9 April, the suspect, a Pakistani national, was caught on camera escaping while getting down from a police truck. Two police officers were also seen chasing him before he ran off-camera.
It is understood that Muhammad Hassan escaped during a transfer from Sungai Buloh Prison.

According to a report by The Star, the suspect entered the country via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on 11 January, 2025, and was later granted a 30-day social visit pass.
The suspect, identified as Muhammad Hassan, 24, was under investigation for sexual offences against children and robbery.
Survived by hiding in forests
According to Immigration Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban, throughout the 11 days he was on the run, the suspect managed to evade authorities by hiding in forests near construction sites during the day.
At night, he would slip into the area to seek shelter and sleep in order to avoid threats from wild animals.
He also wore clothes stolen from construction sites to avoid detection by authorities.
“The arrest was the result of six days of intelligence-gathering, assisted by information from the Pakistani Embassy,” he said.

On 18 April, he was arrested at KM24, Batu 14, Jalan Gombak Lama by a team from the Intelligence and Special Operations Division of the Immigration Department headquarters.
“Based on an interview and the identification process carried out by a representative from the Pakistani Embassy, the suspect was confirmed to be the individual who escaped police custody on 9 April,” he added.
It was also reported that the suspect attempted to flee again during his arrest and failed to produce valid identification documents.
Muhammad Hassan is currently being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and is being held at an immigration depot pending further action.
