53yo Malaysian Dad Sentenced To 270 Years In Prison For Sexually Assaulting His Two Daughters

A father's role is often associated with protecting and supporting his family through every stage of life. However, a recent case served as a painful reminder that those entrusted with a child's wellbeing can also become the source of unimaginable harm.

A tuition teacher in Sabah will likely spend the rest of his life behind bars after being sentenced to a total of 270 years in prison for raping his two daughters.

In April, the 53-year-old man was sentenced to a total of 165 years in prison after pleading guilty to 11 charges of raping his two daughters, aged 22 and 25 respectively.

Each charge carried a 15-year prison sentence, with the sentences ordered to run consecutively. In addition, each charge also came with 10 strokes of the cane.

However, the final sentence could not be determined at the time as the court was still awaiting the victim's medical report.

The offender expressed remorse

During court proceedings on 21 July, the court imposed an additional 105 years' imprisonment and 70 strokes of the cane after he pleaded guilty to seven counts of raping his eldest daughter between December 2025 and 19 March 2026.

Harian Metro reported that the sentence was handed down by Judge Ahmad Faizadh Yahaya after the accused pleaded guilty to all seven charges, which were heard separately.

During court proceedings in May, the man pleaded guilty to charges involving the rape of his eldest daughter, now 25, at several hotels beginning in December 2025, with the final incidents occurring on 18 and 19 March 2026.

Earlier, the accused said he felt ashamed of his actions and fearful of the consequences. He also stated that he accepted whatever punishment the court decided to impose.

"I truly repent, and I am very sorry. Hopefully, I will be the last person to do something like this. I hope to be given the opportunity, if I am released, to meet my children and family to apologise to them," he said.

The eldest daughter had allegedly been abused since she was 16

Despite the remorse expressed by the accused, the prosecution argued that several aggravating factors justified the maximum sentence, including the fact that the victim was his own daughter.

According to the prosecution, the abuse began when the victim was just 16 years old. The prosecution also highlighted elements of premeditation, noting that the accused obtained the victim's work schedule, instructed her to book hotel rooms and travelled from Lahad Datu to Tawau to carry out the offences.

The prosecution further argued that the offences had caused severe and lasting trauma to the victim, warranting a sentence that reflected the seriousness of the crimes committed.
