As a successor to the SC18 Alston, the SC20 is another one-off creation by Lamborghini’s motorsports division, Squadra Corse. Taking inspiration from other unique one-off Lamborghini’s such as the Aventador J and Veneno Roadster, the SC20 is an open-top track car perfectly road legal.
Designed by Lamborghini’s Centro Stile in Sant’Agata Bolognese, the car was created following the customer’s wishes, who was involved in the project from the first drawings. The goal was to create a totally unique vehicle with revolutionary design and performance, and they most certainly have.
The carbon fibre body was fitted and polished by hand by Lamborghini’s aerodynamic engineers to ensure optimal airflow for performance and for occupant comfort. This is key as the SC20 doesn’t have a windshield and we’re pretty sure the high speeds the SC20 will be capable off would be very uncomfortable if the aero wasn’t managed well. The massive front splitter, flanked by two fins and the hood’s air intakes, was inspired by the Huracan GT3 EVO. Simultaneously, the track-only special Essenza SCV12 galvanized the heavily sculpted body sides of the SC20. The chiselled rear is highlighted by an adjustable carbon rear spoiler that stretches across the entire width of the SC20.
The SC20 is powered by Lamborghini’s flagship 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 that pushes out 759hp and 720Nm of torque, similar to the engine found in the Aventador SVJ. Power is sent to all four-wheel with a single clutch seven-speed automated-manual transmission. A central electronic differential shuffles power between the wheels, which in turn are mounted on single-nut aluminium rims that are wrapped in Pirelli PZero Corsa tires, 20-inches at the front and 21-inches on the rear.
The SC20’s design is entirely bespoke, right down to the unique colour scheme, starting with a custom made Bianco Fu (white) base. The Blu Cepheus (blue) livery was rendered. The same colour scheme can be found in the interior, alternating with Nero Cosmus (black) and Bianco Leda (white). The most unique aspect of the SC20’s interior is the exposed carbon fibre dash, centre console, door panels and rear firewall. Moreover, aside from the carbon monocoque, the seats’ shell is also carbon fibre, which is upholstered with a combination of leather and Alcantara. Door handles are milled from solid aluminium while the air vents are created via 3-D printing technology. The devil’s in the details.
The SC20 is a culmination of all that is wild, loud and outlandish associated with Lamborghini, and we can be sure it isn’t the last. In a sensible world, we have Lamborghini to thank to bring a sense of pantomime and drama for us to enjoy, brought together by a bonkers soundtrack from a screaming V12. We will never own one, but that won’t stop us from setting this one as our monitor wallpaper.
