Mio MiVue Dashcams Get Everyone On The Same Page, Er, Video Clip

With the growing number of drivers with questionable judgement and temperament on the road, there will always be an accident waiting to happen. Having a dashcam helps even out the situation when the odds are not in your favour.

While the name sounds familiar, this is the first time Mio is officially making their range of MiVue dashcams available in Malaysia. Just to make their products a little more attractive than they already are, Mio's dashcams come with a three-year device warranty.

Starting at the top, the Mio MiVue 792, priced at RM799, is pretty high tech. It has Wi-Fi capability that, at the point of impact, transfers video to your phone via an app. It’s built-in GPS automatically logs in your driving information — speed, altitude, longitude, latitude and heading. With an external power source, this dashcam can also continue recording when you’re parked.

The MiVue 792 is fitted with Sony’s STARVIS, a super low-light CMOS sensor that features near-infrared sensitivity. This dashcam can capture Full HD 1080p at 60fps with a 140-degree wide-angle lens and F1.8 aperture.

Another dashcam of note is the MiVue 733 that has built-in Wi-Fi and GPS, yet comes at a wallet-friendly price of RM499. The 733 can capture 1080P videos at 30fps with its all F2.0 aperture all-glass lens. Hook it up to an external power source, and this dashcam will continue recorded when your car is parked. However, this dashcam does not come with Sony’s low light sensor.

The MiVue 785 is the only one in the ‘7-series’ range that has touch-screen capability. Although it does not have Wi-Fi and GPS, the 785 does have the Sony low light sensor. Its all-glass lens of F1.8 aperture captures videos with 1080P quality at 30fps. The MiVue 785 is priced at RM599.

If the budget does not permit, the MiVue C360 is a compact dashcam equipped with Sony’s low-light CMOS sensor, F1.8 aperture and records at 1080P at 30fps. It comes at a price of RM399.

All of MiVue’s dashcams, except the 733, can be paired with a rear camera, the MiVue A30. The little rear camera features a Sony low-light sensor, 130-degree wide-angle recording, F1.8 aperture and night video capture mode.
