[UPDATE: “The replacement of the affected fuel pump is free of charge and all costs related to this replacement activity will be borne by Mazda Motor Corporation, Japan.]

Mazda Corporation is recalling its vehicles from several parts of the world, including Malaysia, to rectify a fault in the fuel delivery system. The vehicles affected are Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-3, CX-5 and CX-9 models made between 2017 and 2019. Vehicles made in 2020 are not affected.

The recall is necessary as a faulty fuel pump module can cause the vehicle to stall, which is dangerous when you are driving on the highway. If you’re feeling something out-of-character is happening to your Mazda, do stop safely and contact your Bermaz authorised or service centre for instructions.

Bermaz Motors, the sole distributor of Mazda vehicles in Malaysia, will be contacting owners of affected vehicles. Those affected are advised to make an appointment with the nearest service centre immediately. The part swap from faulty to new will take about 1.5 hours. However, depending on the model and workload, the repair might take longer.

Bermaz Motors have set up a website that allows vehicle owners to gain more information and check if their vehicle is affected. Bermaz Motors apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Malaysia is not the only country affected by the recall. Owners living in other ASEAN countries, China, the Middle East, Africa, Middle America and Caribbean are also getting their vehicles recalled.
