We don’t know about you, but we feel that there has been a drought in K-dramaland since ‘The Queen of Tears’ and ‘Lovely Runner’ finished airing. We’ve tried streaming a few dramas since, but they just haven’t been able to get us hooked. That being said, there are many amazing pairings to look forward to. Here is our pick of the best six:

Kim So Hyun & Chae Jong Hyeop (Serendipity’s Embrace)

Everyone loves romance dramas, and this one is based on a popular webtoon. Lee Hong Joo, an animation producer afraid of love due to painful memories from her previous relationship, runs into her first love ten years ago, Kang Hoo Young (Chae Jong Hyeop), who saw her at her worst. They continue to meet by chance, and the male lead asks her a heart-fluttering question: “Think again carefully from now on. Are we really just friends?”
Release date: 22 July on tvN

Jung Hae In & Jung So Min (Love Next Door)

Director Yoo Je-won and writer Shin Ha-eun, who previously worked on Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha in 2021, are reuniting for the series. This rom-com drama is about a woman named Bae Seok Ryu (Jung So Min), who tries to restart her troubled life, and her childhood friend, Choi Seung Hyo (Jung Hae In), who created a dark chapter in her life. Both actors are known for their unique chemistry with their co-stars, so we can’t wait to see theirs!
Release date: 17 August on tVN

IU & Park Bo Gum (When Life Gives You Tangerines)

While we love Park Bo Gum, we haven’t loved any of his K-dramas since ‘Love in the Moonlight’ aired eight years ago, so we’re hoping this one will be a hit. It is set on Jeju Island and follows the rebellious Ae-Sun (IU) and the reliable Gwan Sik (Park Bo Gum), with the latter long harbouring a crush on the former. This is an amazing pairing, so we wish it would hurry up and hit the small screen already!
Release date: TBA, Netflix

Park Bo Young & Choi Woo Shik (Melo Movie)

While the title is ‘Melo Movie,’ it is a series of a cinematic-like journey through the youthful romance between Kim Moo Bi (Park Bo Young), who works in the film industry, and Go Gyeom (Choi Woo Shik), a movie critic. The former enters the film world because of her father’s love for movies, while the latter transitions from being an extra to a film critic. Director Oh Chung Hwan will helm the project.
Release date: TBA, Netflix

Go Youn Jung & Kim Seon Ho (Can This Love Be Translated)

This will be heartthrob Kim Seon Ho’s first K-drama since Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha back in 2021 (and his unfortunate scandal), so this is definitely something to look forward to. Follow the story of an unpredictable romantic comedy about Joo Ho Jin (Kim Seon Ho), a multilingual interpreter who can speak English, Italian, and more who becomes the translator for global superstar Cha Mu Hee (Go Youn Jung).
Release date: TBA, Netflix

Suzy & Kim Woo Bin (All The Love You Wish For)

The powerful duo first stole fans’ hearts when they worked together for ‘Uncontrollably Fond’ seven years ago. Blending fantasy, romance, and comedy, the series is about Jinn, a genie who awakens after a thousand years, and Ka-young, his new impassive master. The series weaves a romantic comedy around their conflicts over three wishes, setting the stage for magical mishaps and heartfelt moments. It will be written by Kim Eun Sook (The Glory, Goblin) and directed by Lee Byeong Heon (Extreme Job).
Release date: TBA, Netflix
Which K-drama are you looking forward to? We personally can’t wait for ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’ *squeals*!
