This Animated Short Was Made Entirely Using the New "Star Wars" Toy Line
We may be three months away from the much anticipated premiere of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but already, the hype is kicking into high gear.
A few days ago, a team of Star Wars superfans released the first of what is a series of fan-made stop-motion shorts starring key toys from the new Rogue One toy line. The impressive video is part of the #GoRogue campaign and serves as "a tribute to the incredible content that the Star Wars community posts online every day," said Jimmy Pitaro, the Chairman of Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. The stories follow the adventures of Rogue One toys from Hasbro, LEGO, FUNKO, JAKKS Pacific, Mattel and Disney Store as they try to track down the building instructions to the LEGO Star Wars Death Star set which have been misplaced by the Empire.
See something you like in the video? Start saving because the full range of the new toyline will be available in Malaysia and the rest of the world in less than a month--September 30 to be exact. Meanwhile, with the vast number of fan-generated Star Wars-related content on YouTube--more than 2,296 per day and nearly 96 per hour!--a global amateur movie-making contest is also being held to coincide with the launch of the toy line.
Star Wars fans that are keen to have a go at telling their own 'Rogue story' are invited to share their short stories or skits set in a galaxy far, far away. Winning entries from around the globe will be chosen by a panel including Rogue One director, Gareth Edwards. And what is at stake? A trip to Lucasfilm in San Francisco to attend the screening of Rogue One plus the chance to see their short story on the big screen!
