The imaginary dinosaur Barney, alongside with his two pals Baby Bop and B.J., gave joy to children all over the world, sang infectious songs that remain in our head till this day, and taught us a lot of valuable lessons growing up.

And if you feel like taking a trip down memory lane, well, get ready because Barney will be moving up from the small screen to the silver screen soon.

According to Entertainment Weekly, a live-action ‘Barney’ movie is currently in the works at Mattel.

What’s even more interesting is that ‘Black Panther’ star Daniel Kaluuya is on board to produce the live-action.

From
“Barney was a ubiquitous figure in many of our childhoods, then he disappeared into the shadows, left misunderstood,” Kaluuya said in a statement.

“We’re excited to explore this compelling modern-day hero and see if his message of ‘I love you, you love me’ can stand the test of time.”

The giant stuffed-purple T-Rex will be making a grand comeback, but we’re not sure how much of a live-action film ‘Barney’ will be as the show wasn’t originally animated to begin with (as an actor wore an actual costume throughout filming).

So technically, it is already in live-action format, right?

We are happy family...
Now, we’re really curious to see how the film will turn out and more importantly, who will star in it. Perhaps Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez will reunite with the purple, huggable dinosaur who made its debut in 1992?

Let’s just hope they won’t ruin our childhood in the live-action adaptation.
