Gyeongseong Creature Confirms Stellar Cast: Park Seo-joon, Han So-hee, Claudia Kim, and Wi Ha-joon
The South Korean heartthrob barely needs any introduction. After starring in a series of hit dramas and movies such as ‘What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?’ and ‘Itaewon Class’, Park Seo Joon has become a household name in his native country and even Malaysia, recently fronting a campaign for Milo.
It’s been two years since the 33 year old actor appeared onscreen, so anxious fans who are looking forward to seeing him weekly on their TV screens again can look forward to Netflix’s upcoming drama series, Gyeongseong Creature.
He will be lending his talent as Jang Tae Sang, the richest and most well-connected person in the city as the head of merchant marketplace Golden Jade House. Although Tae-sang usually prioritises money over justice, it all changes when he investigates a series of missing person cases and meets Yun Chae-ok.
Despite only making her acting debut in 2017, Han So-hee’s popularity absolutely skyrocketed after acting as a young mistress that we all loved to hate in ‘The World of the Married’ and has starred in a string of dramas since like ‘My Name’ and ‘Nevertheless’ since. Here, she plays Yun Chae-ok — a famous bounty hunter who can track down missing people, even ones who are dead. Chae-ok possesses a sharp eye and agile survival skills learned from her rough childhood roaming across Manchuria and Shanghai with her father.
While we know 21st century Seoul to be a gleaming metropolis, in 1945 during the Japanese colonial rule, it was formerly known as Gyeongseong and this series is set in a fictional world where there is turmoil in the land due to creatures that appear and wreak havoc. The thriller series follows individuals going up against these monstrous creatures that were born out of human greed.
As if the two gorgeous main leads weren’t enough to capture your attention, also joining them onscreen will be Claudia Kim and Wi Ha-joon who have both received international spotlight through their work.
Claudia Kim plays Maeda, who is the wife of a powerful official in Gyeongseong during the colonial period. Her resume boasts films such as ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ and ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’.
Fans of Netflix’s most watched series ever, ‘Squid Game’ will recognise Wi Ha-joon who is currently winning hearts in ‘Little Women’ which also stars Kim Go-eun. In ‘Gyeongseong Creature’, he plays Gwon Jun-taek, Tae-sang's best friend who joins him on his dangerous plan in rescuing the people who have gone missing. The cast also features veteran actors Kim Hae-sook and Jo Han-chul.
The production team features screenwriter Kang Eun K, who penned dramas across various genres such as ‘Dr. Romantic’ and director Chung Dong-yoon, who previously directed ‘Hot Stove League’. The series is produced by Story & Pictures Media and co-produced by Studio Dragon and kakao ENTERTAINMENT.
Stay tuned for upcoming details of the release date on Netflix.
