The documentary, which tells the tale of Malaysia’s historic 2018 General Elections, highlights how the opposition coalition managed to overthrow the previous government for the first time in 60 years.
Directed by Marina Mahathir’s daughter and Tun Mahathir’s granddaughter – Ineza Roussille alongside Dian Lee, the documentary has been submitted to the Academy as an entry in the ‘Best International Feature Film’ category for the 92nd Oscars, according to Astro Awani.
A total of 93 countries have sent in their entries, making it the highest number of entries ever received for this category in the Academy’s history.
Our fellow Southeast Asian neighbours, such as Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, and Vietnam have also submitted their films.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, among the films that are seen as serious contenders to bring home the Oscar are ‘Parasite’ (South Korea), ‘Pain and Glory’ (Spain), ‘Les Misérables’ (France), and ‘Atlantics’ (Senegal).
The top 10 films shortlisted as a nominee in the category will be announced on 16 December.
Nominations for all categories will be announced on 13 January 2020 and the 92nd Oscars will take place on 9 February.
