It seems like Taylor Swift is the unofficial queen of the world with countless awards and achievements under her belt including being crowned TIME Magazine’s Person of the Year in 2023 and being the artist who has won the most Grammys in the Album of the Year category. It seems like the 34-year-old is continuing with her global domination with the release of her 11th compilation record ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’

Fans have been eagerly anticipating the album’s release after it was announced, and even more fanfare came when Taylor announced that it was a double-album release, with a total of 31 songs.

Upon its release, the album and the superstar’s name were swiftly (pun intended) written in Spotify history books. On their X account, they tweeted, “On April 19th, 2024, THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT became Spotify's most-streamed album in a single day, and Taylor Swift became the most-streamed artist in a single day in Spotify history.”

According to CBS News, Taylor now holds the top three most-streamed albums in a single day in Spotify's history, the company said, with "Midnights" and "1989 (Taylor's Version)" also on the list.

Naturally, Taylor didn’t just break one record, her song “Fortnight (feat. Post Malone)' became Spotify's most-streamed song in a single day.”

According to the Financial Times, the album is also on track to become one of the highest-selling music releases since Nielsen began tracking album sales in 1991, selling 1.6 million US units in a single day. Unusually, in a country where streaming dominates music streaming, about 1.4 million of the tally came from traditional format sales such as vinyl, CDs, and cassettes.

“Based on first-day activity, it is clear that The Tortured Poets Department will debut north of 2 million units (in its first week),” wrote the music industry blog, Hits Daily Double.

Congratulations, Taylor & Swifties! We can’t wait to see what records she breaks next.
