Malaysians are unfortunately familiar with the disappointing feeling of their favourite artists skipping out on our country for their tours. For Swifties, it was no different as Taylor Swift is set to perform for six nights in our neighbouring country in March 2024 but skipped out on Kuala Lumpur.

However, some avid Malaysian fans were determined to see America’s pop darling in the flesh and joined the queue of over a million people online including other international fans for presale tickets on 5 July.

As reported by The Straits Times, the pre-sale tickets were open only to UOB Cardmembers but within 10 minutes, customers received queue numbers in the one million range. During Coldplay’s recent ticket pre-sales for Singapore, the queue also exceeded one million.

According to the report, fans on the Ticketmaster website were issued a random queue number. When their turn came to purchase tickets, they were directed to a page to select their concert dates and ticket categories before being directed to the payment page.

A fansite also reported that the website crashed during the queue due to an overwhelming response.

Many fans complained that they were unable to get their hands on tickets due to technical issues with the website:

AEG Presents Asia, the concert organiser announced on Twitter around 3 pm that the pre-sale tickets were fully sold out.

Registered fans with an access code can still buy tickets online at Ticketmaster.sg during the general sale on 7 July, 12.00pm until the tickets sell out. The registered fans can also head to SingPost outlets in person to purchase the tickets during the general sale period. Klook bundles will also go on sale on 7 July.

Outrageous Resale Prices

Naturally, tickets which were picked up during the UOB pre-sale are now being resold at five to ten times the original price. Scalpers on Carousell are selling 1 tickets, which were originally going for S$348, at the inflated price of S$3,000.

Similar to scalpers who resold tickets for Coldplay, we still hate them.

The Eras Tour at the National Stadium, Singapore will be held from 2 to 4 March and 7 to 9 March 2024. Ticket prices range from $108 (RM372) to $348 (RM1,198). Sabrina Carpenter will be performing as a special guest. It will be the only venue outside of Japan where Swift will be performing as part of her tour.

We hope you get the tickets and just for your entertainment, here's an influencer trying to buy Taylor Swift tickets while lying on a hospital bed:
