Honda Just Made The CR-V Bolder And Sportier With The Mugen Limited Edition
When we talk about a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV), there are plenty of choices in the market. But to be honest, most of them look and drive almost the same.
What if you want something sportier? What if you want your SUV to look more muscular?
Then, ladies and gents, let us introduce you to the brand-new Honda CR-V Mugen Limited Edition.
That’s right; the Japanese carmaker took their best-selling SUV and added several features to make it bolder and sportier compared to its competitors in the market.
The Honda CR-V Mugen Limited Edition – the third Honda vehicle to get the Limited Edition treatment this year, after the Honda Jazz Mugen and the Honda BR-V SE – was first introduced at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2018 (KLIMS 2018), but it’s now ready to go on the road.
According to Mr. Toichi Ishiyama, Honda Malaysia’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, the decision to introduce a Mugen edition of the Honda CR-V was an easy one to make as the SUV is “a perfect model for the family-oriented customers who enjoy active lifestyle and premium urban life.”
Not totally convinced? Here’s what you can expect from the Honda CR-V Mugen Limited Edition:
#1 The Mugen treatment
If you’re a car enthusiast, you would definitely have heard of Mugen. Mugen, which means “Without Limit” in Japanese, tunes and races Honda vehicles in the Super GT championship. Mugen also manufactures body kits and performance parts for Honda vehicles.
For the Honda CR-V Mugen Limited Edition, Mugen swooped in to equip the SUV with a sporty Front Under Spoiler, Front Grille Garnish, Side Garnish and at the back side of the vehicle, a Rear Under Spoiler and a Rear Upper Wing.
It also boasts 18-inch alloy rims, giving the car a sporty, stylish look.
Of course, they also threw in the iconic ‘無限 MUGEN’ emblems all around the vehicle to let people know that your vehicle is not one to be messed with.
#2 A powerful engine
The Honda CR-V Mugen comes in a 1.5L TC 2WD variant, which is powered by a 1.5L VTEC Turbocharged engine.
The performance of the 1.5L VTEC Turbocharged engine is equal to that of a 2.4L engine, so yeah, it’s extremely powerful. According to Honda, the four-cylinder engine is capable of producing 193 PS at 5,600 rpm and 243 Nm of torque.
The Honda CR-V Mugen Limited Edition has a maximum speed of 200hm/h, and is capable of going 0-100km/h in just 8.8 seconds. Now, please keep in mind that the CR-V is an SUV, so the numbers are pretty impressive, aren’t they?
#3 Tonnes of advanced features
The things you get with the Honda CR-V Mugen Limited Edition are more than just aesthetic. On the inside, you’ll get black leather seats with wood finish accent interior trim, smart keyless entry with push-button start ignition, seven-inch Advanced display Audio Unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, paddle shifters and dual-zone air-conditioning.The Honda CR-V Mugen Limited Edition also boasts Auto LED headlight, Active cornering lights, Electric Parking Brake (EPB), Auto Brake Hold (ABH), Walk Away Auto Lock and Driver Attention Monitor.
As for safety features, it six airbags, Hill Start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Agile Handling Assist (AHA), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and ISO Fix.
That’s a very impressive list, if you ask us.
#4 Exclusivity
It is called the Honda CR-V Mugen Limited Edition for a reason; not everyone can get their hands on this bad boy.There are only 300 units of the Honda CR-V Mugen Limited Edition available for purchase, so you won’t be bumping into a lot of this SUV on the road.
